Former President Donald Trump convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council in the White House Situation Room Friday morning, following a dramatic escalation in the Middle East as Israeli forces launched a wave of devastating airstrikes on Iran.
In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump warned that Israel’s next phase of retaliation would be “even more brutal,” urging Tehran to return to the negotiating table over its nuclear ambitions before facing “total devastation.” He claimed that the latest strikes had already caused “great death and destruction,” including the elimination of several top Iranian military commanders.
“Israel is equipped with the best and most lethal weapons on Earth,” Trump declared, underscoring the strength of U.S.-supplied military hardware now being deployed in the conflict.
Israel’s government later confirmed it had struck more than 100 strategic targets across Iran, including the critical Natanz nuclear facility. Among the high-profile casualties were Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps leaders General Hossein Salami and Major General Mohammad Bagheri, along with much of Iran’s air force leadership—marking one of the most significant blows to Iran’s military infrastructure in recent history.
