An officer could be seen throwing the man to the ground after he got up 😳

A shocking video from this past weekend’s protest against the Trump administration has gone viral, capturing the harrowing moment a man is repeatedly trampled by police horses.

Hundreds gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, June 6, to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. The peaceful demonstration escalated into chaos over three nights, as riot police clashed with protesters in scenes that resembled a war zone.

One widely shared video—also broadcast on national television—shows a man wearing a backpack lying in the street, surrounded by LAPD officers on foot and horseback. In a matter of seconds, he is kicked by one horse and trampled by another, before a mounted officer strikes him with a pole-like object.

Despite the violent encounter, the man manages to stagger to his feet—only to be slammed back to the ground by a police officer as the turmoil rages around him.

As tensions escalated during anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles over the weekend, chaos erupted in the streets when demonstrators reportedly hurled Molotov cocktails and rocks at officers—prompting police to retaliate with rubber bullets and tear gas.

Among those caught in the crossfire was Australian journalist Lauren Tomasi, reporting for 9News. Amid the swirling smoke and confusion, Tomasi and her cameraman, Jimmy, found themselves in the thick of the unrest.

ā€œI am okay. My cameraman, Jimmy, and I are both safe,ā€ she confirmed shortly afterward. ā€œThis is just one of the unfortunate realities of reporting on these kinds of incidents.ā€

Tomasi went on to document the heavily restricted zones of downtown LA, describing the volatile atmosphere and a firm warning issued by city officials: ā€œThe city warned that if anyone moves through here, they will be arrested on the spot.ā€

The unrest came to a boiling point Saturday, June 7, when former President Donald Trump announced that he had authorized the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops in response to what he described as “violence against federal ICE agents.”

ā€œIf Governor Gavin Newscum [sic], of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows they can’t, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem—RIOTS & LOOTERS—the way it should be solved!!!ā€ Trump wrote on Truth Social.

California Governor Gavin Newsom fired back on X, condemning the move as an unconstitutional power grab:
ā€œI have formally requested the Trump Administration rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles County and return them to my command. We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved. This is a serious breach of state sovereignty—inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they’re actually needed. Rescind the order. Return control to California.ā€

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass also weighed in, following Trump’s controversial invocation of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expand deportation powers.
ā€œIt shows a sense of terror in the community,ā€ she said. ā€œIt’s bad enough that it happened at this location, but the way this goes and spreads throughout the community—people are not sure where they are safe.ā€

As the city simmers with unrest, local residents have been urged to avoid public areas until tensions de-escalate.
