Whitney Purvis, who captured hearts as a young mom on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, is now facing every parent’s worst nightmare — the sudden and heartbreaking loss of her teenage son, Weston Gosa Jr.
On Monday, June 2, 33-year-old reality star Whitney Purvis took to Facebook to share the heartbreaking news that her beloved son, Weston, had tragically passed away at just 16 years old. Accompanied by touching photos that celebrated moments from her son’s life, Whitney’s raw and emotional post laid bare her pain.
“This is so hard to write,” she began. “My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. Oh, my baby is gone, and I don’t know what to do with myself.”
She went on to say, “He was so perfect. This is truly my worst nightmare come to life. How do you keep going after losing a child? I’m in complete disbelief — this can’t be real. I would give anything just to hold him one more time. Words cannot begin to describe the pain I’m feeling.”
In a heartbreaking tribute, Whitney added, “I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can’t go on without you. Rest in peace, my angel. You left us far too soon. April 2, 2009 – June 2, 2025.”
Later, she shared a tender photo of herself embracing Weston, writing, “Rest in peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I’ll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You will always be my baby.”
While the cause of Weston’s death has not been publicly confirmed, his stepmother shared a few details on social media, leaving many heartbroken and searching for answers.
She revealed that Weston had been battling several ongoing health issues, including diabetes, and that the family is now awaiting the results of an autopsy.
“All we know is that we woke up around 7 a.m. and tried to rouse him — but he wasn’t breathing,” she shared. “We performed CPR and called for an ambulance. Paramedics continued resuscitation efforts and rushed him to a hospital in Gordon County, where he was sadly pronounced dead.”
Describing her son, Whitney remembered Weston as “brilliant, smart, funny,” and full of promise. “His loss was completely unexpected. Losing a child is the most painful experience I’ve ever faced,” she added. “Please keep our family, and Whitney, in your prayers.”
Weston, born in 2009, appeared on the first season of 16 and Pregnant when Whitney was just a teenager. She and Weston’s father, Weston Sr., later welcomed another son, River, in 2014, though the couple eventually parted ways.
In recent years, Whitney has faced personal challenges. In 2024, she was reportedly arrested for allegedly failing to pay child support, according to TMZ, and subsequently lost custody of both her sons.
