Donald Trump has never hidden his strong opinions on birthright citizenship. In his latest statement, he made some truly shocking remarks that have stirred up controversy once again.

Since taking office on January 20, Trump has pushed through a series of major changes. He has aggressively overhauled U.S. trade agreements and taken a hard stance on issues like drugs, crime, and immigration.
One of the most controversial moves has been the mass deportation of migrants. Many were sent to El Salvador’s massive detention facilities under a wartime law, bypassing any chance for legal hearings. These deportees were offered what the administration called a ‘free flight’ out of the U.S., along with an ‘exit bonus’—a cash incentive to encourage non-citizens to leave the country voluntarily.
Donald Trump and his administration have been pushing to overturn birthright citizenship—a right enshrined in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens.”
The executive order they’re trying to pass would deny citizenship to children born in the U.S. to parents without permanent residency—such as undocumented immigrants or those visiting on tourist, student, or temporary work visas.
However, this effort has faced a major legal roadblock. Three federal judges in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Washington blocked the move, ruling against the administration’s attempt to change this constitutional right.
In response, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, urging the Supreme Court to revisit the decision. He argued that birthright citizenship was originally intended to protect “the babies of slaves” after the Civil War, and that in today’s context, it is no longer necessary.
The former president wrote:
“Birthright Citizenship was not meant for people taking vacations to become permanent Citizens of the United States of America, and bringing their families with them, all the time laughing at the ‘SUCKERS’ that we are!”
He continued,
“The United States of America is the only Country in the World that does this, for what reason, nobody knows — But the drug cartels love it!”
Trump then slammed the country’s political correctness, saying:
“We are, for the sake of being politically correct, a STUPID Country but, in actuality, this is the exact opposite of being politically correct, and it is yet another point that leads to the dysfunction of America.”
He emphasized the historical context:
“As conclusive proof, the Civil War ended in 1865, the Bill went to Congress less than a year later, in 1866, and was passed shortly after that. It had nothing to do with Illegal Immigration for people wanting to SCAM our Country, from all parts of the World, which they have done for many years. It had to do with Civil War results, and the babies of slaves who our politicians felt, correctly, needed protection.”
Trump concluded with a plea to the Supreme Court:
“Please explain this to the Supreme Court of the United States. Again, remember, the Civil War ended in 1865, and the Bill goes to Congress in 1866 — We didn’t have people pouring into our Country from all over South America, and the rest of the World. It wasn’t even a subject. What we had were the BABIES OF SLAVES. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Good luck with this very important case. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!”
This explosive statement comes as the Supreme Court prepares to debate whether the president has the authority to end birthright citizenship, a case that could reshape American immigration policy forever.
