A Kentucky mother believes her unborn child has been blessed by “the hand of God” after an extraordinary image appeared during her ultrasound.
At 32 weeks, Amanda Foster’s scan revealed what looked like a large hand gently resting on her baby’s head — a comforting symbol amid a challenging pregnancy.
Now eight months along with a baby boy, Amanda, 33, has prayed faithfully before every ultrasound, asking the Lord to “keep His hand on my baby” ever since her son was diagnosed with a serious heart condition early in the pregnancy.
Doctors identified a potentially life-threatening defect near the aorta — the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body — involving the wall that separates sections of the heart.
The ultrasound image quickly caught attention online, where viewers called it “amazing” and “a miracle.” Some even believe the shape is the baby’s own hand, swollen and deformed during the scan.
For Amanda, though, the image is a powerful sign of hope and faith — a divine reminder that her little boy is being watched over.

Following the health scare, Amanda Foster and her husband Kyle believe their baby boy was truly protected by God’s hand.
“We prayed and prayed, along with many others,” Amanda shared on Facebook. “When we saw the specialist for a follow-up, the problem was gone. I’ve become so thankful that now I pray before every appointment.”
But Amanda’s journey began long before this pregnancy — all the way back when she was just 17.
At 18 weeks into her first pregnancy, doctors diagnosed her baby with Potter’s syndrome, a rare condition where the kidneys don’t develop properly or are missing. This disorder causes physical abnormalities such as a flattened face, low-set ears, limb malformations, and restricts the baby’s position in the womb, severely impacting lung development.
Tragically, Amanda lost her first son to Potter’s syndrome. Because the diagnosis is often fatal, she was overwhelmed with grief.
“My first thought was, ‘If God is going to take my son, He will take me too,’” Amanda recalled.
But things didn’t end there. Instead, she found herself sinking into deep resentment and anger toward God. To make matters worse, she was later told it was very unlikely she would ever have a healthy baby boy, since Potter’s syndrome is more common in males.
Despite these devastating odds, Amanda and Kyle later welcomed two healthy daughters into their family.
Even though she cherished her children, Amanda described her emotional state at that time as being “drowning in anger, pain, chaos, and torture.”
“I never doubted God’s existence — I just didn’t want anything to do with Him because of what I had lost,” she said.
Her life felt chaotic and miserable, and she finally reached a breaking point. In September 2021, feeling completely broken and exhausted, Amanda made a life-changing decision and turned her life over to Jesus Christ.
From that moment, everything began to change. By November, Amanda discovered she was pregnant again.
“In March 2022, I learned we were having a boy — and that he was healthy! He is now almost three years old,” she said. “Now, I’m pregnant with another baby boy, and while this pregnancy has had its ups and downs, I have faith that God is watching over us.”
Bailey, Amanda’s youngest daughter, was the first to spot the striking image during the ultrasound — a large hand seemingly covering her soon-to-be baby brother’s face as she accompanied her mom to the appointment.
“Thinking about that ultrasound more and more brings me to tears,” Amanda shared, “and fills me with deep gratitude for all that God has done and continues to do in my life.”
