Woman’s heartache after tragic car crash kills husband and children

A tragic car accident on Saturday has left a Texas mother shattered, after her husband and two children were killed in a head-on collision in Grayson County.

Tommy Moorehead III, 41, was driving with his daughter Lynnlee, 6, and son Tommy Jr., 4, when their vehicle was struck by an oncoming truck on FM-3133. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2007 Dodge 3500 attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided head-on with the family’s 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The truck erupted into flames, killing all three at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge, 63-year-old Rocky Patterson, has been arrested and charged with three counts of manslaughter. He remains in custody at the Grayson County Jail with bond set at $3 million.

The loss is immeasurable for Brooke Mustard Moorehead, who is now grieving the deaths of her husband and both children. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Brooke with funeral costs and the financial burdens of this sudden tragedy.

“In a single instant, Brooke lost everything,” the fundraiser reads. “Tommy was a devoted husband and loving father. Lynnlee radiated curiosity and joy, and little Tommy Jr. was always smiling, just beginning his journey.”

Brooke, a beloved member of the local community and longtime restaurant employee, is known for her strength, compassion, and loyalty. Now, in her darkest hour, that same community is coming together to support her.

At the time of publication, more than $92,000 has been raised toward a $150,000 goal.

As the town mourns the heartbreaking loss of a father and two young lives, messages of love, prayers, and donations continue to pour in for Brooke.
