As wildfires rage through Southern California, hundreds of animals are finding refuge and care thanks to dedicated humane organizations. From tiny cats and loyal dogs to majestic horses—and even a colorful parrot named Ducky—these rescued animals are being given a second chance amid the chaos.
Many pets are temporarily boarded while their families take shelter in evacuation centers, while others receive urgent treatment for burns, dehydration, and smoke inhalation.
Pasadena Humane has opened its doors to over 400 animals, including a sweet pony, while the Los Angeles Equestrian Center shelters between 200 and 300 horses—and a surprising 200-pound pig.
