Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped away from royal life five years ago, relocating to the U.S. to carve out their own path. Since then, Meghan, 43, has faced mounting criticism in the UK, despite maintaining a devoted fan base. In the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, she opened up about feeling unfairly blamed for Harry’s decision to step back from royal duties.
Now, royal expert Jack Royston, Newsweek’s Chief Royal Correspondent, has issued a stark warning: one particular event could seriously damage Meghan’s reputation — if she ever left Harry. Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Royston said, “Imagine if Meghan left Harry — it would destroy her reputation. She would be eviscerated publicly.”
Royston points out that Meghan is often grouped on social media with women seen as controlling or narcissistic. He also emphasized that a split would leave Harry, 40, isolated in America, saying, “They need each other. Without Harry, she’s nothing. And without her, Harry’s life in America is nothing.”
Despite these grim predictions, separation seems unlikely. The couple appear as deeply in love as ever. Meghan recently told People that they’re experiencing a renewed “honeymoon phase,” especially as her current projects remind them of their early days together — back when Meghan was an actress and blogger.
She shared, “It’s almost like a honeymoon period again… He’d watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits. I think he loves watching as much as I love doing that creative process. It’s just been fun.”
