Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is reportedly reeling after enduring what insiders describe as “three royal humiliations” within just a matter of weeks—events that have left him feeling increasingly estranged from the family he once called his own.
Now 40, Harry—the youngest son of King Charles III—stepped down from senior royal duties in 2020, choosing a new life in California with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. But while he may have found freedom overseas, his ties to the monarchy continue to cast a long and often painful shadow.
According to royal commentator Emily Andrews, writing for Woman magazine and cited by the Mirror, “It has been humiliation after humiliation for Prince Harry.” Those humiliations, it seems, have reached a tipping point.
1. A Cold Reception During U.K. Visit
The first of the recent blows came during Harry’s much-anticipated visit to the U.K. earlier this year to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. While many expected a possible reunion with his father—particularly given King Charles’ recent cancer diagnosis—that meeting never materialized. The palace cited the King’s packed schedule.
Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths, speaking to GB News, suggested that behind the scenes, tensions ran high: “There is some talk that a lot of negotiating went on,” she said. “Harry reportedly made certain demands about who could be in the room, which may have made things difficult.” She also hinted at possible influence from Prince William in advising the King against a meeting.
Despite the snub, a spokesperson for Prince Harry issued a diplomatic response: “The Duke, of course, is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
2. No Invitation to Trooping the Colour
Just weeks later, the second blow landed. As King Charles celebrated his official birthday with the traditional Trooping the Colour parade, Harry and Meghan were conspicuously absent—not by choice, but reportedly because they were not invited.
Their last appearance at the event was in 2022, though even then, their participation was limited. While they missed this year’s celebration, sources say the couple reached out privately to extend well wishes to the Princess of Wales, who made her public return following her cancer diagnosis.
“They’ve jointly reached out to send well wishes,” a source told Closer, “but they’re still not really in a place with Kate to warrant much of a response.” Still, the insider noted, “that hasn’t stopped them from trying to connect.”
3. Left Off the Guest List for High-Society Wedding
Perhaps the most symbolic of all was Harry’s reported exclusion from the wedding of the Duke of Westminster—a close friend of the royal family and one of Britain’s most eligible bachelors. The ceremony was hailed as the “wedding of the year,” yet Harry and Meghan were nowhere to be seen.
While official reports suggest the couple was invited and “respectfully declined”, insiders speculate their absence was tied to the ongoing rift between Harry and his brother William, who was in attendance.
As royal insiders told Radar Online, the emotional toll is mounting: “There are some days when Harry says he can’t take it anymore—the slights, the coldness from the palace. It’s like he’s no longer part of that family.”
